Patients who are living in poverty have unique needs as a result of the complex mix of co-existing physical and mental health problems in the context of adverse social circumstances and resources.This puts unique requirements on healthcare practitioners and the healthcare system in delivering care to this group of people, in the face of constrained resources.
In this session we will use case-based discussions to reflect on our own experiences working with patients living in poverty and draw on the wisdom and expertise of colleagues as well as the published research from the Deep End. We will reflect on strategies for sustainable and effective practice in the consultation room, within your community and the wider systemic advocacy space. You will leave the session feeling invigorated for your ongoing work and connected to colleagues who face similar challenges working in the community.
