Society is finally starting to move away from the so called “thin ideal” and towards an acceptance of body diversity, However, Gps are still divided as to what approaches do we use when providing care for a patient in a larger body. Weight loss is commonly prescribed without any screening of underlying eating disorders. Dieting alone increases the risk of developing an eating disorder x 5. Sadly minimal training is provided to Gps in the eating disorder arena. This panel will explore the complexity around providing advice to patients with consideration of both eating disorder and metabolic medicine .

 Learning Objectives

1. Define obesity

2.Define eating disorders in larger bodies

3. Implement trauma-informed approach to assessing body habitus

4. Screen for EDs in all body shapes and sizes

5. Avoid eating disorder-genic practices when addressing metabolic risks
