This panel discussion will open with the question “How do we engage in productive and respectful cross-cultural dialogue?”. We will speak with Dr Louis Peachey (Australia), Dr Lewis Mehl-Medrona (USA) and Dr Mark Wenitong (Australia) and learn from their perspectives as both First Nations people, and senior medical doctors. What can we learn from Indigenous Knowledge to help us in our lives as people, and as doctors?
Learning Objectives
1. Interact with our First Nations panel members
2. Reflect on our own cultural beliefs and attitudes (and whether we even know what they are!) and how these impact us in our personal and professional lives
3. Contrast Deep Listening with a symptom-focused interview
